Blended Mobility| Braga | 26–30 May 2025
From the 26th to the 30th of May, Braga became the meeting point for young changemakers across Europe, as AJEA hosted the Blended Mobility of the Erasmus+ project Food4Thought. Participants from Portugal, Romania, Bulgaria, Italy, Cyprus, and Croatia came together for an inspiring three-day program dedicated to exploring urban agriculture and sustainable food systems.
This international mobility aimed to promote youth engagement in environmental sustainability, equip participants with practical skills in urban farming, and strengthen cross-border collaboration around one of today’s most pressing issues: food security in urban spaces.
The experience combined non-formal education, teamwork, field visits, and community engagement. Young people worked in international teams to design their own urban gardens, learning about companion planting, resource efficiency, and inclusive green space design. Through fun, hands-on challenges and creative collaboration, participants explored how even the smallest urban spaces (balconies, rooftops, backyards) can be transformed into productive, sustainable gardens.
A highlight of the program was the visit to a pedagogical farm in Braga, where participants gained real-life insights into organic farming practices and how agriculture can become a tool for social inclusion and education. This experience connected theory with practice and showcased the real potential of community farming initiatives in cities.
The mobility concluded with an International Conference, where participants shared their reflections, discussed their learning outcomes, and engaged with project partners and stakeholders. It was a moment to celebrate the journey, but also to reinforce a shared commitment to action. The conference was followed by a final evaluation session and a warm farewell between new friends and future collaborators.
This Blended Mobility served as a key moment within the Food4Thought project, helping to empower youth as agents of change, raise awareness about sustainable urban food practices, and lay the groundwork for greener, more resilient communities across Europe.
